Choosing the right package:
To see what amount of disk space requirements you'll require, simply add together the sizes of all the images you plan to host with us. To calculate bandwidth needs, multiply the image sizes by the number of views you expect each to have.
Sample space and bandwidth calculation
We have 2 images we want to store. One is a logo for HTML e-mails, and the other is a signature image to be used for online bulletin board posts.
1. E-mail Logo: The image takes up 18.1k (18,100 bytes) of storage space. Each time someone views it (i.e., opens and reads the e-mail in HTML form), they use 18.1k of bandwidth. Since we send 2 HTML e-mails a year to about 9,000 recipients each, and we assume each one will view the e-mail twice, our bandwidth calculation is:
18.1kb image size x (2 e-mails x 9,000 readers x 2 views each) = 651600000 bytes = 651600k = 651.6MB = 0.651GB
2. Signature Image: We use a 10k image as our signature on various online bulletin boards. We make about 1,000 posts a year and estimate that each thread we post on is viewed 200 times. Thus, our bandwidth calculation for this image would be:
10k image size x (1,000 posts x 100 views per post) = 1,000,000,000 bytes = 1,000,000k = 1,000MB = 1GB
Final Calculation:
- Space: 18.1k + 10.0k = 28.1k
- Bandwidth: 0.651 GB + 1.0 GB = 1.651 GB.
These are well under the space and bandwidth parameters of Image Hosting Plan A.
